Thanksgiving

Hey guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We went to our Grandma's for the day, which was lots of fun.

I just thought I would post five things that I am thankful for:

1. Jesus Christ
2. Our Home
3. Salvation
4. Music
5. The most wonderful family in the whole world! :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

What's something your thankful for?

Self- Control

2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity,
but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Webster's Definition: restraint exercised over one's own impulses emotions, or desires.

I have a lot of trouble being self-controlled with my siblings. It's tempting to get angry with one of them for taking something of mine or pulling my hair, but this verse is a good one to remember:

1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. You enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

It reminds me that Satan is just waiting to slip me up and make me yell at one of them. He would be more than happy to tempt me to do that, and it's hard not to let him, but although it's difficult at first, being self-controlled is something to practice, and it does get easier as you master that fruit of the spirit!

I hope you enjoyed our Fruit of the Spirit posts!

Gentleness

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Philippians 4:5

List three people that come to your mind when you think of the word gentleness.

Got it?

Now, when you think of those people, what other characteristics do you think of (besides general gentleness)??

I think of:
1. Softness of speech
2. Listening-- the people I think of are very good at genuinely listening to what is being said.
3. Patience -- They don't get upset quickly.

Out of the things I listed and any others that you thought of, pick one that you could work on this week. Out of my three, I think the one I need the most work on is patience..... especially with siblings. There are so many things they want to tell me or show me and I feel like I have so little time and need to get on to other things. Much too often I either don't listen at all, or half-listen while doing other things. I need to remember that my time is the Lord's and He gave me my siblings to nurture and love.

James 1:20b
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.....

Pictures from the trip

Thanks everyone so much for your prayers this last week. We had a safe and very fun trip! God really blessed our group last week in incredible ways! It was amazing to see how He put every detail of it together and knew exactly what was going to happen.

Marissa

Hey Everyone!

Marissa went down to South Carolina on Sunday for a music competition. She'll be gone until Friday. I just wanted to ask for prayers for her safety in the 14 hour drive home and her time on campus at Bob Jones University.

Thanks so much! I miss her a lot!!
